How to be a History Detective

About the Course

The How to Be a History Detective course has been designed with Family Learning in mind.   It was developed for families with children at Key Stage 2 and above.

The ethos of the course is to challenge the adults and their families to become local history detectives using fun activities to spark their interest and motivate them into finding out about their local environment.

The aim of the course is for adults and children to produce a local history project together, using a blended learning approach to technology and web resources.

The course runs over an eight week period and is made up of eight three hour session.  Each weekly session is split into two; the adult learners only session, and a family session where adults and children work together.   There is also an additional activity for families to complete at home.  It offers considerable scope for the introduction of information learning technology tools i.e. How about creating your own web log or web quest?

How much does it cost?

Most of the courses provided by the Family Learning Service are subsidised by the Learning and Skills Council and would be free to the learner.

When does it run?

Unfortunately the original course has already passed but hopefully this will give you and idea of the kind of courses we run.  Please let us know if you are interested in participating in a future course. Contact Us.
